Former Iran goalkeeper Aziz Asli passed away

Former Iran and Persepolis goalkeeper Aziz Asli , born on 9. April 1938 in Täbris, Iran,
died at the age of 78 on Thursday, 23. April 2015 in Duesseldorf, Germany.

Asli began his professional career in 1949 for Daraei and
joined Persepolis six years later.

On January 7, 1971 he slapped the referee in Tehran derby
between Persepolis and Esteghlal after the referee ruled
out Mahmoud Khordbins goal in the 82nd minute.

Asli made his Iran debut in Tehrans Amjadieh Stadium on
1 June1962 against Iraq in the match finished in 1-1 draw.

Aziz Asli helped Team Iran to win it’s first Asian Cup in 1968.

He also acted in many films before the Iranian Islamic
Revolution and was a painter as well.
